MTAC VOCE Award
Music Center Spotlight Awards
Since 2020, Studio for Voice has had students selected as one of only 16 Semifinalists chosen in the Classical Voice category, including Charles Blanchard, Asher Bartfeld, and Matthew Thorson. Read the press release at the Music Center’s website.
Our students have participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Cal-Western Regionals (a competitive evaluation including students from among 5 western states) and local Student Evaluation Preparation (SEP) Awards since 2021. In 2026 we had 4 students advance to semifinals in both classical and musical theatre categories. Student Charles Blanchard took 2nd place in the College division finals and advanced to nationals. In 2025, student Ethan Kuwata took 3rd place in the upper High School division. In 2024, student Lexi Sexton was selected as one of seven for the musical theatre master class, and Asher Bartfeld won 1st Place in the Classical Voice upper High School division. Past place-winners also include students Charles Blanchard and Dolly Lowe.
NATS Cal-Western Awards
Student Alexandra Sexton received 1st Place in the Senior Solo Voice category of the statewide Music Teachers Association of California VOCE Competition in July 2024. She performed at the MTAC Convention this summer. Read more here: https://www.mtac.org/programs/voce/
