What could have been a superficial experience in the world of singing turned into something much deeper, one that will stick with me for years to come.

Learn about Lessons

Typically one initial lesson is scheduled to assess if a student is ready to study voice. Please contact us to schedule. Lessons are individual (no group lessons), and by appointment only.  The  minimum age  to begin voice lessons is 9 years old.

In addition to vocal technique, students are expected to study musicianship (sight-singing and rhythm), and music theory if applicable.  Technique and musicianship exercises appropriate to the level of the individual student are provided in the lessons.  Repertoire will be reviewed in lessons, after which a student will be responsible for purchasing suggested books outside of the studio.

The Studio for Voice has an  annual recital, which is required for all students age 18 and below.  Most of our students also participate in the statewide  Certificate of Merit Program.  Advanced students, at the teacher’s discretion, are invited to participate in various  programs and competitions.  A partial list of these can be found below.

Sample Student Recordings

“I chose these particular recordings because I love the versatility and uniqueness in the student’s voices they show.  I also chose them because of the contrasts in repertoire, and how musically they are sung by each student. All recordings except number 2 were performed by high school students; the expert accompanist in these performances is Galina Baskina.  All songs were performed by students that have been studying with me for 2 to 8 years.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
