Agy's kindness and passion for music were conveyed effortlessly through her teaching and our time together.
“I grew up singing with Agy. We began working together when I was 12; I am now a sophomore in college studying opera performance. Agy's kindness and passion for music were conveyed effortlessly through her teaching and our time together. It was through her that I learned to love studying music. I have enjoyed the act of singing and performing all my life, I started performing in shows when I was 9. When I started studying with Agy, I became fascinated with the intricacy of the theory behind every composition I sang. The experiences I found particularly rewarding were the Certificate of Merit evaluations and local competitions Agy encouraged us to participate in. They served as incredible learning experiences during which I received constructive advice from countless experienced performers/ teachers. Though the adjudicators' opinions usually reiterated the correction I received from Agy, the added perspective was very helpful. The Certificate of Merit evaluations also aided in the establishment of my foundation in music theory which continues to help me as I progress in my studies.”

I felt lost as a parent of a first-year choir student. Finding Agy helped me support my children through our many years of choir and musical theatre.
“As a parent, I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to have had Agy’s constant support and guidance for my two children on a weekly basis for 7 years.
Working with Agy supported my son Derek from 10th through 12th, and my daughter Karly from 6th through 12th grade. They were able to develop and strengthen their voices, sight-reading skills, and vocal technique over time which increased their confidence and ability to perform, audition, and compete successfully year round at a very high level — from classical vocal solos and musical theatre auditions, to All-State Honor Choir. It was amazing to watch them grow!
Looking back, I felt lost as a parent of a first-year choir student. Finding Agy helped me support my children through our many years of choir and musical theatre. I have referred many other families to Agy and cannot thank her enough for the difference she made in our lives. Agy’s level of experience, combined with her ability to connect with and show genuine concern for each of her students, is priceless.
Agy is a wonderful friend, an amazing teacher, and a supportive parent in our Santa Monica performing arts community, and I am forever grateful.”

Agy effortlessly kind and perpetually supportive, but she is extremely dedicated to helping all her students become better singers. . .
“Agy is a phenomenal voice teacher! I’ve learned so much about vowel positioning, posture, alignment, breath support and vocal technique which has helped me broaden my range and increase my vocal strength. With Agy’s suggestions, even making slight adjustments, resulted in great improvements. Agy always managed to easily uncomplicate the more difficult pieces, insightful of the best approach to help.
Plus not only is Agy effortlessly kind and perpetually supportive, but she is extremely dedicated to helping all her students become better singers. Motivating and inspiring, I can’t recommend Agy more highly.”

Expect to be in an ever supportive environment with focused, structured, and organized instruction intertwined with a fun and relaxed vibe.
“We cannot recommend Agy highly enough! She truly is a gem of a voice teacher! My daughter and son started lessons with Agy in middle school and continued with Agy all the way through their senior year in high school.
Agy has a special gift for teaching. With Agy‘s positive energy, warmth, and encouragement, I have seen my kids develop a confidence in their singing and significant progress in developing vocal strength and beautiful tone through the years.
Agy connects with her students and gauges their strengths to figure out the best songs for their voices at whatever level they are at. Knowledgeable and experienced, Agy seems to instinctively tailor the lessons to each student and this effectively has brought a significant portion of those in Agy’s studio to awards such as acceptances to Southern California Honor Choir, All-State Honor Choir, Kiwanis Finalists/winners, and MTAC VOCE Finalists/winners.
Once in Agy‘s studio, expect to be in an ever supportive environment with focused, structured, and organized instruction intertwined with a fun and relaxed vibe; it really is impressive how Agy manages to integrate those so seamlessly.
So if you’re looking for an exceptional voice teacher, you need look no further because Agy is a once-in-a-lifetime teacher.”

Agy is a teacher who pushes her students to achieve beyond what they believed they ever could do.
“Agy is a teacher who pushes her students to achieve beyond what they believed they ever could do. I came into her studio as a shy 6th grader, knowing nearly nothing about music. Agy showed me how to not only love music but no longer be afraid of it. Whenever I didn’t believe in my ability to sing a piece or tackle a music theory concept, I trusted that although the trek would be challenging, she would help me gain the knowledge and confidence to take over the stage. Due to her patience and expertise, she has prepared me to succeed and become a well-rounded musician.”

Agy has been such a positive influence and mentor to my daughters who has gone above and beyond to support them not only as musicians but also as individuals.
“My twin daughters have been so fortunate to study with Agy Norris for over 6 years. They began working with her in middle school and continued throughout high school. Now that they are sophomores in college, they still reach out to Agy for advice and support. Both are still involved in and passionate about music-Maya is on a music scholarship at Willamette and sings with the school choir. Parker just transferred to Cornell University, where she was just accepted into the top, premiere touring choir at her school. We all credit Agy’s expert guidance and support for their success. She is an exceptional teacher and coach. In addition to her professional expertise, Agy has been such a positive influence and mentor to my daughters who has gone above and beyond to support them not only as musicians but also as individuals. They recently told me that they are so grateful for all of the years they were able to study with Agy and consider that time with her a gift.”

What could have been a superficial experience in the world of singing turned into something much deeper, one that will stick with me for years to come.
“Prior to high school, I had no vocal training or experience, and my naturally deep voice made it difficult for me to sing songs without drastically lowering the key. While I was able to hit the low notes in a song, I had very few opportunities to stand out and practice singing on my own, and I had expected things to remain the same throughout my time in choir.
Thanks to Agy, I received proper one-on-one training that helped strengthen the knowledge I gained from my choir class and resolved weak points that would often be overlooked by even the most seasoned singers. With her guidance over 4 years, I received opportunities that I would have never even considered in the past, such as trios, solos, and even vocal competitions.
What could have been a superficial experience in the world of singing turned into something much deeper, one that will stick with me for years to come. Thank you, Agy!”

Through her thoughtful and caring teaching, she not only guides her students to gain many musicianship skills but also inspires her kids to pursue challenges that otherwise would feel impossible.
“When I began studying vocal music with Agy Norris in seventh grade, my world of singing would change forever. Because of this studio, I have been able to compete, place, and win competitions over my 6+ years with Agy. Through her thoughtful and caring teaching, she not only guides her students to gain many musicianship skills but also inspires her kids to pursue challenges that otherwise would feel impossible. Agy has also been immensely supportive of my endeavors in and outside of the studio, whether it was to talk about my cross country races or rant about my AP homework. I am now a sophomore at Cornell University and I am proud to be a member of the premier touring choir, the Chorus, and to be continuing my music education with weekly singing lessons. None of this would be possible without the mentorship of the incredible Agy Norris!”
